     Brean’a Parker (she/her/they/them), PhD is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate with a master’s degree in professional community counseling and a doctoral degree in counselor education and supervision from the University of Georgia. Dr. Parker is also a Nationally Certified Counselor. She has been practicing for 4 years working in diverse settings including university campuses, non-profit violence prevention agencies and in community serving agency settings.

    Dr. Parker specializes in working with clients who are seeking support related to recovering and experiencing various form of interpersonal violence including intimate partner violence (formerly domestic violence), sexual assault, verbal and psychological aggression or abuse. She also assist clients who are interested in moving towards mental wellness, interested in developing healthy relationships and whom are adjusting to the challenges of life transitions (college, gender transition, relationship termination). 
     
   
  Brean’a practices from a relational cultural theory perspective, which encompasses collaboration alongside clients to examine and re-learn healthy interpersonal skills such as empathy, compassion, boundaries and adult attachment styles and how that impacts relationships with yourself and others. Additionally, Brean’a acknowledges the our family and community histories/herstories/T-stories, socialization and identities play a part in our worldview and our counseling concerns, so utilizing a multicultural and social justice lens, she discusses the way systemic, institutional, cultural and interpersonal factors may impact our mental well-being. Brean’a also practices from a gender affirming, sex positive and culturally responsive approach.

   Her goals are for her clients to live healthy, fulfilling and happy lives. Brean’a believes each client needs different things and will partner with clients to select what approach works best for their concerns, while facilitating an open, genuine, empathic and encouraging therapeutic environment.
