Online Adult DBT Group
Waitlist only | Starts Sept 12 2021
Announcing a new virtual Adult DBT group (ages 20+) starting September 12th, 2021. DBT is a skills-based approach whose goals are to reduce suffering, improve relationships and increase healthy participation in life. Group members learn to better understand and regulate their emotions, decrease feelings of worry, depression, and shame, reduce conflict and set healthy assertive boundaries, replace ineffective or impulsive behaviors with more effective alternatives, and learn to live in the present moment.

This 24 week class covers Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness skills. The focus of this group is on learning new skills, with the instructor presenting new information each week, participants reviewing the previous week's homework and discussing how they can apply skills in their day to day life, and practicing the skills between sessions.

4 Skills Modules
Core Mindfulness
Mindfulness skills help us to be aware of what is happening in the moment. The more we are able to be present the better we are at problem solving, attending to our relationships, and meeting our needs. Interpersonal Effectiveness Relationships are hard and most of us learned problematic ways of getting our needs met or communicating our feelings, which makes them even harder! Interpersonal effectiveness skills help us learn how to ask for what we need, how to say "no," and how to make repairs when we need to. Emotion Regulation Emotions are messengers that are designed to help us engage and respond to our environments effectively. In this module, you'll learn where emotions come from, how they affect the body, and how to gain more mastery over your feelings. Distress Tolerance No matter how skillful we are, we will encounter struggles and discomfort. Distress tolerance skills are designed to help us sail through turbulent times without drowning. You'll learn skills for radical acceptance and crisis survival that will help you feel empowered to live more fully, without fear of the next big wave. |
