Our minds are constantly judging, and when we are inundated with negative thoughts, we feel irritable, disconnected, and disempowered. In this live event, you will learn how to work with your inner critic, identify its source, and use compassion and mindfulness strategies to let go of negative self-talk that is creating barriers to wellness, joy, and loving connection with others.
Healing Your Inner Critic Empowering yourself beyond negative self-talk
What is the Inner Critic?
The inner critic is that voice that is constantly putting you down, dismissing your successes, judging you harshly for mistakes, and second guessing your every move. It negatively impacts our relationships with others, with ourselves, and keeps us stuck in patterns of behaving that frustrate, confound, and make us feel small.
Negative relationship with body and food
Working harder than others in relationships
Self-medicating with substances
Fear of setting boundaries
Settling in relationships
Avoidance of change
All of these problems result when our inner critic is running the show
How do I make it stop?
In this course, you will learn three steps to healing and quieting the inner critic:
Awareness Compassion Change
Through awareness, we develop a clear understanding of what the inner critic is, and what triggers it to push us around. We reflect on the experiences that have had the biggest impact on our inner critic's story: experiences of loss, hurt, rejection, and lack.
Next, we learn how to put compassion into practice to effectively heal the wounds that keep the inner critic going.
Once we have soothed our early hurts, we develop practical skills for changing how we interact with others, and how we treat ourselves.
The strategies and content of this course are the culmination of a 15 year career as a therapist, and my own experience of living with and moving beyond depression. You'll learn skills directly from some of the most effective therapy practices available:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Dialectical Behavior Therapy Hakomi Therapy
Paired with spiritual healing practices:
Vipassana Meditation Healing Touch
Over-Working | Over-Achieving | Over-Giving
There is another way. We can go to the source of our inner critic's power and get back in touch with the joy, the purpose, the wholeness that is our birthright. Healing your inner critic may be the most important work you do for yourself, your loved ones, and for the world.
