Melissa (she/they) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and an Outpatient Psychotherapist. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology at The University of California Santa Cruz, and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health at North Carolina Central University. Melissa is also a certified yoga teacher (YT200).
As a therapist, Melissa approaches her work with a reverence for the uniqueness of each individual’s experience. It is her hope to create a therapeutic relationship based on compassion, trust, and respect while providing a warm, non-judgmental space for clients. Her style is grounding, patient, and contemplative. Melissa draws from various approaches to meet each client's needs, including Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She additionally enjoys integrating elements of mindfulness and somatic work into her practice. Much of Melissa's experience has been centered around adult members of the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals who practice consensual non-monogamy. In her free time, she enjoys writing and playing music, spending quality time with friends, and getting outdoors with her partner and sweet rescue dog, Corbin. |
