Hi! My name is Yailyn Murphy. I am a Latinx, bilingual, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor. I graduated from Meredith College with a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Psychology. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University.
I aim to co-create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore, feel validated and heard, and heal. I specialize in trauma treatment and I am passionate about perinatal mental health and supporting individuals as they navigate life stressors and relationships. I have six years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.  My approach is empathic, warm, and tailored to each client.  I enjoy supporting women and birth givers during the perinatal and postpartum periods as they transition into parenthood. I have training in perinatal mood disorders, pregnancy loss, parenting, parent-infant /child relationships, and trauma.
I am committed to the daily work of anti-oppression and anti-racism and am LGBTQIA+ affirming. In addition to the perinatal population, my scope of practice includes supporting first generation clients, BIPOC, and individuals struggling with racial / ethnic identities and generational trauma. My dream is to bridge the gap by making health care accessible to all.
My theoretical orientation is integrative encompassing a multicultural, positive psychology, strengths-based approach, as well as the incorporation of Trauma-Informed Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It is an honor to create a safe space with clients that encourages curiosity, embodiment, growth, & healing.
I am rostered in a number of evidence-based trauma treatments for adults and children, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP). I also have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing and am seeking certification in Perinatal Mental Health.
I am a Raleigh native (Go Wolfpack!). In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, baking, traveling, reading, listening to podcasts, and keeping up with the latest research on perinatal mental health and child development.
